CONSTITUTION AND BY LAWS
ARTICLE I – NAME
ARTICLE II – CHURCH COVENANT
Having been led by the Holy Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour, and having professed our faith and desire to be obedient to the Lord in the act of scriptural baptism, we do in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into this covenant with one another, as one body of baptized believers in Christ.
We promise therefore, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love, to work for the advancement of this church, in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry and expenses of the church, and the spreading of the gospel throughout all nations.
We also promise to maintain family and personal devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our family and friends; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be honest and fair in our dealings, faithful in our work, and responsibilities, and be good examples in our behavior; to avoid all ”back-biting”, gossip and excessive anger; to abstain from worldly practices which do not honor Christ (such as selling or using intoxicating drinks as a beverage); and to work with zeal to advance the kingdom of our Saviour.
We further promise to watch over one another in brotherly love; to pray for each other; to help each other in times of sickness or distress; to cultivate sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always seeking for reconciliation, according to the commands of the our Saviour.
Moreover, we promise that when we remove from this place, we will seek to unite with some other church of like-faith and practice where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principle of God’s Word.
ARTICLE III – PURPOSE OF THE CHURCH
The purpose of this church is to glorify God by preaching and teaching the Word of God, to administer the two ordinances given to the church in the New Testament, to aid the spiritual growth of its members, to minister in her community, and to spread the Gospel to all the world as commanded by the Word of God.
